The Bonobo model was designed for quick pop-ups, outstanding maneuverability and nose-riding. It's perfect for a small, mushy day or an overhead break. This shape will be your go-to longboard. It's available in 7'6' to 10'0' lengths.
The model pictured has a stunning, custom resin tint on the bottom and a classic, white top deck with a hint of what's below on the rails.
The stringer is made by Ventana of reclaimed redwood floorboards from the late 1800s from the old Schwan mansion in Santa Cruz, California. Down the center is Alaskan yellow cedar from benches from the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The tail block is redwood burl driftwood from Andrew Molera State Beach in Big Sur, California.
The Bonobo is part of the Ventana Locus Surfboards Eco Collection, a collaboration to create high performance, eco-responsible, foam-based surfboards. This model uses a Marko Foam 25% Recycled EPS blank that is also 100% recyclable.
It has a 3-fin Futures and longboard fin box setup. Like all Ventana boards, this one is glassed with Entropy Bio Resin, a very strong and lightweight epoxy made with a high tree sap content. The top deck uses a sheet of 6 ounce fiberglass plus a sheet of 4 ounce; the bottom uses a single 6 ounce sheet. The hand-turned leash plug is made of Honduras mahogany guitar neck offcuts from the Santa Cruz Guitar Company.
The board was made in Santa Cruz, California and is a collaboration between innovative shaper Tyler Hopkins of Locus Surfboards and master craftsman Martijn Stiphout of Ventana.
