8'2" Classic Cruiser
The stunning redwood in this performance work of art came from the floorboards of the historic Schwan Victorian mansion in Santa Cruz, California. The house was built of local wood in the 1890's, and these clear grain heart redwood floor boards served the residents all the way through the early 2000's when the house was demolished.
The wood has an amazing grain pattern, rich red color and is incredibly nice to work with. For this particular board we accented the redwood with yellow cedar wedges left over from a previous project. The fin is made of two different pieces of reclaimed redwood - old growth from a garden trellis and second growth from a fence project. The tail block is a highly figured wood, species unknown, salvaged from a cabinet shop dumpster. Abalone inlays on the tail finish the board off nicely.
The rails are made of oak cork, and it was glassed with Entropy Super Sap 100 Bio Resin and 4oz fiberglass cloth.
Made in Santa Cruz, California by master craftsman Martijn Stiphout.
