The Ghost Trees Tanker is a performance work of art. It is quick to turn and a terrific nose rider.

Bottom Deck

The bottom deck is made of reclaimed redwood siding, redwood from John Steinbeck's first house in Pacific Grove, Alaskan yellow cedar from the Western Flyer boat rebuild project, redwood floorboards from the late 1800s from the Schwan Mansion in Santa Cruz, oak from wine casks from Martini & Prati by way of USA Millwork, Bay laurel from the 1800s from the cooperage building on the UC Santa Cruz campus, and a stringer of salvaged Doug fir and Philippine mahogany with Crayola pencil inlays. The Entropy Resins bio-epoxy finish is polished to show three trees (ghost trees) and a moon/sun to match the Ventana logo. The fin has a halo of Black Diamond Pigments and includes an inlay of hammered copper reclaimed from Hunter Designs. The wood is Doug fir from the hull of the Western Flyer, considered by many to be the most famous fishing boat in the world. John SteinWestern Flyerbeck, Ed "Doc" Ricketts and crew chartered this 77-foot sardine boat into the Sea of Cortez in Baja California, Mexico in 1940. The following year, Steinbeck published his book, The Log from the Sea of Cortez about the adventure. Learn more about this amazing boat and Ventana's use of its wood
