The Blue Bubbles 7'0" is a performance work of art. This board is two of three in a series of similar creations that are coming soon - each is in the same shape and size and has reclaimed wood from the same sources. They differ in the blue epoxy patterns created for each one.

The top deck is made from salvaged, old growth redwood drinking water tanks provided by OG Redwood. The tanks were built in the 1960s by A. Bellagio Wood Tank Co. and used for more than 50 years in Lompico, California. There are matching pin lines using glitter pearl from Black Diamond Pigments.

Cosecha Farming

The bottom deck is made from salvaged redwood end posts used by Cosecha Farming in Domaine de la Côte winery in Lomopoc, California. The posts were used with vine trellises. The blue resin pour was created with EcoPoxy, a strong soy-based epoxy, and Lux Deep Sea Blue pigment from Black Diamond Pigments. There are matching pin lines using the same pigment.

The tail block has an abalone inlay and is made of Doug fir from hull of the original Western Flyer boat, considered by many to be the most famous fishing boat in the world. John Steinbeck, Ed "Doc" Ricketts and crew chartered this 77-foot sardine boat into the Sea of Cortez in Baja California, Mexico in 1940. The following year, Steinbeck published his book, The Log from the Sea of Cortez about the adventure. Learn more about this amazing boat and Ventana's use of its wood. The vent and leash plug are made of oxidized white oak from the structural ribs of the boat.
Western Flyer

The fin is made from redwood burl driftwood recovered from a beach in Big Sur, California. It is translucent with blue bubbles of Black Diamond Pigments suspended in a window of EcoPoxy.

The rails are made of cork, and it will be glassed with Entropy Super Sap Bio Resin and 4oz. fiberglass cloth (two layers on top and one on bottom) from Aerialite Surf. As with all Ventana boards, the interior is glassed and sealed, as well.

Made in Santa Cruz, California by master artisan Martijn Stiphout.
