Barred Surfperch #3
The Barred surfperch (Amphistichus argenteus), is a species of surfperch native to inshore waters from northern California to southern Baja California, Mexico.
This species can reach a length of 43 centimeters (17 inches) though most do not exceed 30 centimeters (12 inches). The maximum recorded weight is 2.0 kilograms (4.4 pounds). Like other surfperches, it gives birth to live young. The diet of the barred surfperch consists predominantly of sand crabs.
This fish is hand-crafted using stoneware clay and fired to cone 5. It is signed, dated, numbered, tabbed, and museum-wired to showcase only the fish.
